I'm so confused by this process.
« on: March 15, 2012, 08:08:30 PM »
Hi, everyone!

So I'm going to the UK in two weeks, and I need a Tier 5 visa. I know it's a ridic tight timeframe.

I have a scanned copy of my sponsor letter, and the actual one's coming to me via DHL. Can I use the scanned copy for the visa/biometrics appointment? Or do I need to wait?

Seriously, this is more complicated than any other visa I've ever gotten.

When is your appointment? I don't think you need it for the biometrics appointment.  They're not going to check your documents then. They are just meant to take your data and provide you with the proof of that to submit with your application.

I haven't submitted the application yet, so I've not made the appointment. I didn't want to submit, make the appointment, and then find out I did something incorrectly.

You're travelling in 2 weeks and you haven't even applied yet? Talk about waiting until the very last second...best of luck to you.

You only need your passport for your biometrics appointment.

As far as for the application itself, you need to have the original Sponsor letter when you actually send the documents to the Consulate, but you have 14 days once you do you biometrics to get the application & documents to the Consulate for processing and in your situation you better get the Priority Application service so it can be processed in 48 hours.

What's this about a sponsor letter that I can print out/have to send to the consulate? http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=74077.0;all [nofollow] help!!

CoS (Certificate of Sponsorship) = Sponsor Letter.. So you can stop freaking out.

Okay, additional question.

I have two expired passports, and the online app only gives room for one, so I put my latest on the form.

Do I need to:
A. include the expired passport in my package? Could I just include a copy instead?
B. amend the application so it has both expired passports?

If I include the passport, do I get it back with my passport?

If your 2 old passports cover the past 10 years (which is what the application asks for if I remember correctly) then simply hand write the additional passport on the application. You need to send the original previous passports, they will be returned to you once your application is processed.
