Need to fly!!
« on: March 20, 2012, 10:31:58 AM »
The UKBA has had my SET(M) indefinite leave application and US passport for nearly 8 weeks now.  I am desperate for my passport as I need to fly on 17th April.  I understand if I pull my application they will void my immigration status and I will have to start over.  (they have already returned my husband's UK passport however)

Does anyone know if there is a way to get an emergency passport or travel document from the US embassy in order to travel?  I understand that leaving the country won't be the hard part, (coming back will) but just looking into options.  Or can I throw money at them to expedite it?

Any advice would be great.

You could only have thrown money at them for the in-person application. There is no way of expediting once it's sent.
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012

Hi KMP.

That would be such a hassle on your part in lieu of your immigration status. I believe there's an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) and/or Emergency Passport (EP) that you can apply for in the embassy. But knowing that there are several criteria to consider for your application. That still may vary on your situation why do you need to apply for an emergency documents. So throwing out your money will not be the best option.

I suggest you should also contact a legal's/attorney's assistance in your vicinity with this regard?
