Just wondering if anyone knows how a Fiance Visa works,

1) With the fiance visa do I do all the paper work as sponsoring her from the UK and then send it to the UK Embassy in her country or does she do the paper work from over there?

2) At what point or the best point if we work with yourself can we apply for the fiance visa?

3) For the UK fiance visa would we have to get married in the UK?

4) Can anyone recommend a good solicitors who has maybe dealt with this for themselves in the UK?

I'm sure someone with more expertise will come along to answer soon, but I can tell you that your fiance has to apply from within her own country. You might check out the UKBA website as a starting point for information and guidance on what exactly you need to do  :)

You can also check out the frequently asked questions portion of the forums here for some really helpful info. Good luck to you!! :-)

1. I'm going to assume your fiance is in the US for argument purposes (as the process varies from country to country). She applies online, goes for her biometrics (photo & fingerprints) and then submits the whole shebang to the British Consulate-General in New York for processing.

2. The UK Visa process is meant to be a 'do it yourself' process.

3. The UK Fiance(e) visa is so she can travel to the UK, get married and then apply for a FLR(M) to stay in the UK. If your intention is to marry outside the UK then you don't need the Fiance(e) visa.

4. If you're looking for a good Family Path solicitor in the UK try Laura Devine. They have offices in London and New York.

UKBA page on Fiance(e) visas.

Keep in mind that if you have a straight-forward application, a solicitor shouldn't be necessary. Many people on this forum have successfully put together and been approved for a fiance visa. Just ask questions and read other's experiences and you should be good to go!
