Both my and my DH's fathers are deceased.....they probably would not have gotten along as they came from very different backgrounds.....you know FIL born with silver spoon in mouth, father worked hard for what he had.....anyway my mom has no desire to travel to the UK to meet anyone although she is very friendly to everyone...she is 80 years old, has health issues and scared to fly......my MIL probably would not survive going to America.....she is 84 and also has health issues....I am sure they might get along if they were fortunate enough to meet but we will never know......

Mine will probably never meet. My MIL, whom I love immensely would probably never get on a plane to fly to the states. My dear FIL passed this October past. My dad is in very poor health and requires oxygen 24/7 so I doubt he would get on a plane to come visit us, and my mom couldn't leave dad behind so she won't be visiting any time soon.  Its unfortunate as I think they would get along great.

Never met here too.  My dad died in 1973, for one thing, 30 years before my in-laws ever came into the picture.  And my mom was one foot in the grave (full around-the-clock nursing home care, not in her head, non-ambulatory, no longer able to travel etc) by the time my husband (and in-laws) turned up as well.  She died at the end of 2008.  However, my lovely in-laws paid for our flights back to the US for my mother's funeral, so that was a wonderful gesture on their part.  I am blessed with great in-laws!  :)

My husband's remaining in-laws - that is, my brothers & their families all love him to bits though.  And my MIL & FIL did meet one of my brothers & his wife who came over here to attend our wedding in 2004 - they all got along very well!
