Cheapest way to ship from US?
« on: April 20, 2012, 08:34:10 PM »
My mom sends my kids some things from the US at most holidays and birthdays. She ships USPS. Are there any other services that might be cheaper. Some Easter candy, 2 video games, a pair of jeans and a shirt cost her almost $70 to mail.

WOW that is a lot for postage.  You might tell her when shipping presents *think light*.  Lightweight, thin gifts. :)  Still, what she sent sure doesn't seem like $70 worth of postage!

Otherwise, you could check out FedEx and UPS's websites. Just put in the zip code, weight of package, etc. and compare prices.  If you still have the label from the package she just sent, you could use that as an example.

Well, she was an American girl, raised on promises.
She couldn't help thinking that there was a little more to life, somewhere else.
After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.

Rather than buying the items in the stores and shipping them, maybe your mother can simply buy the items online. Websites like amazon.co.uk and bookdepository.com have free shipping to the UK so she wouldn't be paying any shipping costs.
