US Embassy London Appointment Waiting Times
« on: April 24, 2012, 01:10:08 PM »
Hi All,

No idea where to post this, so how about here!

We're headed down to London on May 3 to report the birth of our second child and apply for her passport.  I've booked an appointment for 10 a.m. and bought a train ticket home for 1 p.m.  Should be plenty of time, no?  Anyway, just saw on the embassy website that wait times for first time passport interviews can be 2-3 hours!

Anybody have any fairly recent experiences with this?  How long did you have to wait after you scheudled appointment to actually get everything done for reporting birth/applying for passport?

When we did it in Edinburgh 3 years ago, we were in and out in about 40 minutes I think.  Any storeis welcome!  Thanks.

We reported a birth abroad in March. Our appointment was at 10 and I can't remember how long we waited, but I think that it was about 2 hours. I would try to give yourself a little more time tbh. I think that they aim to finish by 12, but then you'll have to allow time to get to the station.

Tapatalking. Sorry for any typos and other randomness.

Thanks for your reply. We've got ourselves at least an extra half hour as there is a train driver strike on East Midlands trains that day, so the earliest the train will go is 1.30, so that will enough to go 2 miles in a cab to the station even if appointment runs to 1. Thanks again.
