Hi everyone,
We are almost to the point of applying for a spousal visa to return to the UK. We have a dog and a bird (hahn's macaw) that is on the CITES list and are currently working on the process so that we can move them along with ourselves over to the UK.
Has anyone else here moved a CITES species bird to the UK with them from the USA? Or any kind of bird for that matter?
I am guessing there probably haven't been many people (if any), so I will try and document what we did with the process, and hopefully at the end we will be successful and any people with a CITES species bird looking to move them will be able to use this thread as reference. I should mention that I am working with a pet transporter, but would love to hear your stories.
We just sent off today to the US Fish & Wildlife Service for a CITES export permit from the US, once we have that then we will be contacting DEFRA as they have advised me that I need the export permit before we can apply to import.

Talk about a headache, but our little guy is worth it!
