Immigration journey over - still need paper bank statements?
« on: April 21, 2012, 08:12:54 AM »
Hi all,

I got UK citizenship this week.  The last couple of steps in the process are getting a UK passport and getting on the electoral roll.

Can anyone think of a reason I'd still want to receive paper bank statements every month?  I'd kept them going throughout the immigration process, because as we all know the Home Office won't accept anything less.  Now that it's over I want to go paperless, but before I do I want to see if anyone knows of any pitfalls.

Thanks!

Congrats on getting your citizenship!  I'm in the same boat.  I got mine back in July.  We're thinking of doing away with paper statements as well, especially since we seem to get two per month from both our accounts!

Just make sure you have two things coming in fairly regularly (at least quarterly) in both/either of your names for ID purposes.

The only think I can think is that the paperwork may be required as evidence for stuff if you need to emigrate outside of the EU?

Otherwise, go for saving a tree or two, if that's what works, because surely it could be changed back in advance if this was needed.  ;)

Congrats, BTW!  :)

No more hassles (except for longer queues at the airport!)!  :P

Thanks everyone!  Good point Omph about the ID evidence.  Luckily, I get enough stuff that the loss of paper bank statements won't cause me any trouble there.

Let the tree saving begin!   :)
