HomeAgain microchip

Does anyone know if the HomeAgain microchip will work in the UK?  Our vet said she thinks that it will.  Anyone have any experience with this microchip?

Same as above!  Both our cats had HomeAgain and they entered with no issue.  Our UK vet checks our remaining cat's chip periodically just to make sure it's still there and working.   

Thank you everyone for the answers!   This puts our minds at ease.  One less thing to worry about if we do end up moving to the UK. 

This is great to know! Last week, our cat got the Home Alone chip. The vet seemed sure it would work, but the online component appears to be strictly US. I was wondering if she had gotten it wrong. Anyway, glad to know it will work!

I read on a different forum that the HomeAgain chip might not work because some people had problems with them. That made me very worried as I have already started the process with our dog. We will be flying in July. I called Home Again yesterday and they informed me that they have different types of chips. Your vet needs to inject the one with 15 digits. Those are the ones that are ISO compatable. England uses a ISO chip reader to read the dog chip.

I think you also have the option to get a reader which will be used to read the chip when you arrive.

That's good info to have!  Our dog has a chip that is 9 digits long.  We don't really want to have her chipped again, she's a 5 month old Yorkie and only weighs like 3.5 pounds!  I had also read that we could bring our own chip reader.  If we go more than likely that's what we will do.

If you are flying into Heathrow - you can call their Animal Reception Center and make sure they still have a reader than can read that chip.  I have heard they have a whole collection of various readers and they can read most US chips.  You might want to rechip at some point anyway though so if your pet is lost in the UK - vets etc would be able to read the chip.

One of my hounds has a Home Again chip and we no had problems at all.  The folks at the ARC at Heathrow were able to scan the chip, no problem.  Our UK vet's scanner also is able to read the Home Again chip. 
My other dog has an AKC SAR microchip and both the ARC and vet were able to read the chip, but I have heard that the AVID scanners do not read the AKC chip.  Luckily, my vet here in the UK has the type of scanner (Home Again Universal) that is able to locate and read the chip.
