Do I admit "where" we met (FLR-M)
« on: September 26, 2004, 10:28:17 AM »
Hi guys. So I've got my FLR (M) just about finished and most of the documents gathered, but one thing is bugging me. When it asks for dates regarding the relationship, there's also a "where" question. We met online in March, 2002 and then in person in June, 2002. Is it an issue to put "online" on a visa application or should I say that we met in San Francisco?

Oh, and since we've lived together for a year while I've been on a student visa, and we'll be married when we go in, is there a point to bringing relationships stuff - photos, etc. or will wedding pictures do?  ;) I intend to bring our lease from last year as well as this year to show that we've been living together....

That question was on my fiance visa application, too, and I just put both:

June 2002-online
August 2003- in person

Wedding pics would be good, and I'd drag one or two along from the earlier stage of the relationship just to be safe, and show that it's been a continuing relationship.  A lot of it seems to be luck of the draw as to how much evidence your Immigration Officer wants, and a good rule of thumb is "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it."  :)

Best of luck to you!

I just put on my application that we met in Portland, Oregon even though we had been corresponding for several months.  We didn't actually meet in person until he arrived at the airport in Portland.

I didn't take any pictures of us together or wedding pictures and the interviewing person didn't ask for any.  After all, we had the marriage certificate.  She did ask me the date we first met even though it was on the application.

For supporting documents I had:  marriage certificate, rental lease, bank statements showing regular deposits--his and mine as well as bank balances, a letter from his employer, letters from social security and my teacher's retirement showing my income, passports, and I think that is about it.  She didn't ask for anything else.

After she looked at everything she said, "This looks good."  Then she told me to come back at 2:00 pm to pick up my visa.
