Moving to England Summer 2012
« on: June 02, 2012, 11:02:21 PM »
Hello, I have posted a few questions on the forum here about us possibly moving to England and have gotten great answers.  Well, we just found out today that my wife got the job she applied for in England and we are moving there this summer!  I just figured I should formally introduce myself.  We are all so excited...well, except my 15 year old son.  He doesn't want to leave his friends.  I also have a daughter who is 12, she is looking forward to the adventure.  My wife's new position will see us living in England for at least 3 years, possibly more.

We are currently living in the Chicagoland area and will be moving to the Ascot or Windsor area.  We did visit England back in April to see the area and schools.  My wife's current boss just took a job in London and is moving there next month.  He advised us that housing may be a challenge with the Olympics there this summer.  I'm ready for the challenge!  Can't wait!!

Congrats!  We are also moving to the UK this summer from IL.  Champaign to
Newcastle.
We have children as well, much younger tho.  We are hyping the move to them as "we are going on a great adventure"  and truly it will be!
I wish you and your family the best of luck!

Thank you very much!  We are also trying to sell the "adventure" aspect of this to our 15 years old son.  It seems he's slowly coming around.  I think it has helped that a few of his friends are excited for him and are telling him he's "sooooooooo lucky!"

LOL yes I am sure they would think it is pretty cool!  Plus with technology, he can keep in touch with his friends with Skype, email, Facebook (if you let him).  Have you had any luck finding places to live yet?

Good luck with the move but that's a tough time for your son to be moving, as he'll be entering school midway through GCSE courses.

GCSE?  Is that something he will have to do while attending school at ACS Egham?  He will be in the International Baccalaureate program at ACS.
