We borrowed from friends.  The inserts in most infant carseats can be removed and washed.   If you can borrow a snap and go frame with the carseat there's no need for another stroller really.  They aren't the best on rocky paths and stuff, but if all you are doing is going from car to shops, walking around some well paved touristy areas a Snap and Go should be fine.  Most people I know with babies in the US had a snap and go with their car seat.  You can get a snap and go, with a  carseat for just around $100-$120.  It's not the cushiest carseat, but they are safe.

Travel cots - again we borrowed and my mom just went out and bought a new set of sheets for out visit.

Definitely borrow from friends or have your mom visit some garage sales/consignment shops.

Keep an eye out at the bigger airports.  We found that Gatwick, Atlanta, SLC, and Boston all now had special security lines for people with children, and it made life SOOO much easier ...  It was the same queue they used for people with mobility issues.

We noticed this is Boston on the way back and got to use it. Made going through with antsy 3 year old a bit smoother!

We tried the disposable bottles (they squash down, right?) at about 4 months but the flow is too fast, the baby was almost choking.

However we have a Maclaren umbrella stroller that lays almost flat, he's been in it since about 6 weeks and is very happy!
