I still struggle with breakfast out-- I really don't like fried eggs, only like scrambled, a ham and cheese omlete would be a lovely treat!! Choices locally are very limited!

I've never been anywhere for breakfast that wouldn't make me some scrambled eggs. If they do eggs, they can scramble them. Do you ask?

We often have breakfast out and in our small market town ALL the cafes do scrambled eggs.  In fact don't think it's a problem I've had anywhere - because I nearly always have scrambled eggs.

I still can't grasp the concept of NEEDING a winter coat when it is 73f. We were out this morning to run errands and have lunch, and at least half the people I saw in town had on at least a jacket, if not a coat. There were also a lot of bulky pullover sweaters around.

You are darn lucky to get much warmer than this in Blackburn, so why not enjoy it as warmth? Shed the coat, pretend it is spring!

Ground floor. Its the first floor in my head. Always. I get confused when people say 1st floor!

;D I have the opposite problem. Scotland conditioned me so well that when I was in an elevator yesterday, I stood there for a good minute or two looking for the "G" button and wondering what to do. I eventually realised that I needed to push the "1" but I was still skeptical as to whether or not it would take me to the lobby!  :P

Also, my ex's name is Graham and I just never could say it right. It improved over time but, yeah. Hahaha! Don't even get me started on Gaelic names. Ruaridh? Ain't happening. Can't do it!

This was not my experience in Glasgow. The first sign of sun and warmth and there's people sitting in the Botanics trying to get a tan! I was the loser still walking around in a winter coat!  ;D That was one thing I loved, though. The Scots know how to take advantage of a warm sunny day.

I do have to agree, a lot of people here are taking advantage, working on the tan and appreciating the weather. It is the odd one here and there wearing a coat that confuses me. I'd say it is split about 60 - 40 in favor of enjoying the warmth here in town, but a lot of people do still wear jackets or at least sleeves.

I've learned to celebrate the warmth here, since not only is it warmth instead of horrid heat and humidity, but it is also harder to come by.

Definitely! I must say, I'm looking forward to having more of a "summer" now that I'm back in the US, but I can't say I'm looking forward to the horrible, sticky, breeze-less, humid days in July and August. Especially because I'll be living in a city, where it's always infinitely worse! Will have to try and get to the beach as often as possible :)

Hot, sticky, humid July and August is the best! Seriously. Weather so hot it soaks into my bones. Mmmm. Can't wait. I hate all this rain we're getting!

I'm not so crazy about hot, sticky, so humid you can't breathe, breezeless misery. I never got used to it, in all my life. It is always a shock stepping out of the Louisville airport even for the short walk to a vehicle to make the drive to Indiana. At least I won't be in a city.

;D Well at least one of us will be enjoying it! And yes, I am not impressed by the rain. Not at all!

I have lived here for 26 years, and I still have not learned to like Scotland's 'other' national drink... IRN BRU!

I hate it... it leaves an aftertaste of iron.
This is why I totally believe in the old advert:  Made In Scotland, From Girders!  ;)

Try it with whisky. It takes of marmalade.

Why would you want to do that to whisky?!

I'm a bit late to this thread, but...

Seven years and I still can't stop thinking of 5ps as "dimes" and counting them as 10p!

I can see why you would do that!  a few years into living here I was still calling 5p's 'nickels'!
