Hoston to Poulton-le-Fylde
« on: June 26, 2012, 05:55:39 PM »
Well my application is in NY as of this morning. Now comes the waiting game. I'm hoping it will be strait forward as my husband of 3 years and my 14 month daughter are both British Citizens. My husband and I have been together for 7 years, lived together for 6 and now have a wonderful daughter. He is currently working outside the UK so we shal see if that is a problem. Deep breath! So excited and scared at the same time. Hhhhmmmmm we shall see.

Good luck on the waiting game!  I think mine was approved in about 1.5 weeks, we have been married almost 7 years and have Brit citizen kids too.  You know it will be fine but hard to wait in the mean time!   :)

So how bad is the paperwork to move to the UK? We're just in the talking stages of doing this move, so curious as to how bad a nightmare I have to look forward to. My wife and son are British citizens however, we've not registered our son as of yet, so we're hoping this won't be too big a deal either.

you can easily obtain a uk passport for your son with your wife's birth certificate showing she is a UK citizen and your sons birth certificate.  we got american passports for our kids first and then uk ones, no trouble whatsoever.

Yes, we got our daughter a uk passport in like a week just with my husbands birth certificate. It was easy and really helps(I think) make your relationship look more legit. This paperwork was easy, getting everything together was a bit more challenging. I had 2 copies of everything and they took both of them. I also made sure to send not just what they asked for but 2 years worth the emails from the bringing of our relationship( I know a bit ott). Needless to say my package weighed 9.2 lbs and took $85 to send UPS but worth it! The hardest part is waiting. I your child has a UK passport you don't have to pay for a visa for them. My daughter enters the uk on her uk passport and has since she was 6 months old. Good luck.
