Hi

Cadenza - thanks for posting that up, when you read and understand things like this, it helps people understand why laws are put in place :)

Indicolts - Lets look at it another way then. You say there could/should be a waiver for you as your older and not had an accident in over 30 years of driving..  you already get that, in the form of lower insurance premiums as statistically, drivers of more mature ages are indeed less likely to be involved in accidents. There's another view which could also be put forward, perhaps by the 'youngins' you refer to and that is, as you are older, your reflexes and mental processing capabilities are slower, your eyesight could be more impaired as well as your hearing, and therefore, you are more of a risk compared to a 'youngin' so your fines should/could be higher. Have you perhaps thought of it like that?

In short, as posted by everyone above, the speed limits are set for a reason and you've exceeded them and the 'allowed grace' of +10% higher for which the Police don't do anything (in a 30 mph limit, you are allowed to be travelling at 33 mph without being pulled up/over) so, you have used up the 'waiver' you want and thus you've committed two offences. Take the punishment on the chin and admit you are fully in the wrong and learn/move on from it :)

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!
