Anyone in the Nottingham/Derby area?

Been here 6 months and haven't been very good at the whole strike up a conversation and make a new friend thing...so I'm looking to see if anyone is up for coffee/book club anything!!!

I'm around 100 miles from you, but if you ever find yourself in the Norwich area, please let me know, I'd love to meet up! I've been here 7 months (in 2 days) and I'm a housewife, so I have the days to myself (and our two bunnies). I'm really outgoing online, but extremely shy in person. 

Sounds like me, lol.  I'm on my fiance visa, waiting for FLR-M so no working for me...hubby works for the railroad so always working.  Need some girlie friends lol!!  I will keep you in mind if we're ever in Norwich.

Hopefully some Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire folks will turn up here for you, katmatutat!  I'm about 80-odd miles north of you in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Moved here from Florida - last lived in Tampa Bay & miss the weather there.  But I'm not originally from Florida, was born & raised in Kansas.

Another thing you might try is this other website:  http://www.meetup.com/cities/gb/ -- it seems to have stuff for book groups, music lovers & other social get togethers.  Or alternatively, check with your local libraries, book stores, etc.
