Veg box delivery - who do you use?

Admittedly, we live in a quiet part of a quiet town in Dorset and not that den of vice and depravity on the Thames, but we have never had our milk stolen despite it occasionally being left on our building's communal doorstep.  Unless you live in a really dodgy area, it's probably OK  

Well, problem is, we live upstairs in a building that can't be accessed without a key card. Meaning, it would be outside the building. We'd have to go down to the entry gate/door thingy and collect it. Maybe I'm just being "American" about it, but it seems like free milk would be taken if it's not in front of someone's actual personal door.

Maybe a bit "American."  Like I said, I have never known anyone's milk or veg box to be stolen and I am talking about in London.  Leaving these things outside is the norm.  Clearly you know your area best but I am surprised it would be a problem at all. But, hey, it is you that won't get the benefits not me so the risk is yours.

Yeah, my area's not really dodgy (I like it. ) But, there was at least a car break in while I was there in July. I really want to do a veg box (more than the milk, really).

Depending on what you do you can always get the veg box delivered to work
I get all my shiz delivered to work because I live just off Shaftsbury avenue and if you left a scrap of paper outside your door it would instantly be gone!

For just general info for whoever, not necessarily in London - we have our veg box left in our little porch/utility room that's off the back of the house.  But it usually comes by about 8 am or so, before DH leaves for work (after I have left for work) -- about 80% of the time anyway, so he's able to bring it on in before he leaves.  It's worth checking with the scheme you want to use to find out the weekly delivery day for your area & if they have an idea of the route/estimated time they might be in your neighbourhood etc.

Our milk (5 pints a week here) is put right by our front door & comes at 6 am, so I'm always able to put that in before I go to work.

Cheesebiscuit- yes, that's what DH does normally. Only thing is, he works in Kings Cross (and we're way down in Mitcham.) How big are these boxes? Might be a bit of a haul on the tube+ train+ tram. Of course, if they deliver early enough, then someone could just be down there to pick it up when they come by. I'll have to see! When I put in our post code on the Abel site, it said that Peter delivers on Fridays in our area.

I considered using a veg box scheme, but it just isn't flexible enough for me. I prefer to go to the farm shops myself and choose what I want. We also have a lovely thing called Cornish Food Market, which is an online grocery delivery service that stocks all locally sourced veg, fruit, fish, meat, milk, cheese, etc., along with standard grocery items (kitchen rolls, shampoo, etc.). I like that I can order EVERYTHING I want from one place!
