Hello!
This is a slightly unusual situation... My wife and I got married earlier this year, intending to move permanently to the UK (I'm a UK citizen, she's US). Instead of one of us adopting the other's name, we've opted for a completely new name. This has proved somewhat challenging logistically, although not enough to deter us... Especially so because the new name does not appear on the marriage certificate...
Whilst in the UK, we obtained a deed poll for each of us for a change of name - this is fine for me, and should have been for her (hers was notarized) had we not suddenly had to move back to the States. Which is where we are now.
The question is, would it still be possible to change her name through the UK (where the process is much simpler), through the US embassy there? Or do we need to start from scratch here, and obtain a court order?
Many thanks!
John
