Hello from Guam!
« on: March 30, 2013, 12:46:16 PM »
Hello everyone! I'm am American living in Guam for the moment. Husband is Navy, I am prior Navy. I used to be stationed in Diego Garcia, where I met some of my best friends who were all from the UK. Then moved to Italy and visited the UK so many times, I fell in love. I've convinced the hubby to move with me to the UK for our retirement after he's done with his 20, but I'm freaking out because that's only about 4 years from now and I have no idea where to begin. He found this forum, so I am going to hopefully learn a lot from y'all. Our goal is to ultimately move to Scotland because I love it. The fog, the chill, the ocean towns...I just love everything about it. Honestly, though, anywhere in the UK would be fine by me. We have two girls, 7 and 1, and they'll be coming with us, too. We are trying to get stationed in Rota, Spain, after our time here in Guam so that we'll be closer to the UK to get started. I'll probably go ahead of him with the girls and get started while he does his last year in Spain or something. It all really depends on what our requirements are. Anyhow, I look forward to learning from you all, and please, any advice is welcome!

You'll have to begin with a way to get into the country. Unfortunately it's not an open-border situation.

Without a job transfer or UK citizenship, you may find it quite difficult.
