Advice on Document check
« on: December 02, 2012, 09:02:44 PM »
I have all of my supporting documents ready and wouldn't mind someone having a quick look and letting me know if I need to include more or remove things.

My husband is US citizen and I am UK citizen we are married and live in the US and are moving back to the UK together.

Here's what I have:

* 2 passport photo's of hubby
* Wedding pics and some other pics of us together from the time we met until now
* Printed airline bookings from when we visited each other and been for holidays to the UK etc. (I haven't got the original printed tickets you get at the airport so I included the email receipt you get after booking online)
* My 6 months Paystubs that have been printed online and signed and stamped by my HR Dept along with a cover letter stating how much I earn, my job title and how long I've had my job. (we can only gets our paystubs online they wouldn't print them off for me)
* My 6 months bank statements again printed online and signed at bank.
* A letter from my father stating we will be living him etc. including a council tax bill and mortgage closing statement.
* A certified copy of our marriage cert
* My husbands birth cert
* My husbands new and old passport
* An offer letter and contract for a job I have in the UK waiting for me
* My decree absolute from a previous marriage
* My change of name deed from a previous marriage (went from married name back to maiden after divorce)

Do I need to send my original passport and birth cert? or do I send certified copies of those?

Have I forgotten anything or need to take anything out?

I'm soooo nervous about not having enough financial or relationship evidence but from reading on the forum I've learnt to keep it simple.

Thanks so much :)

If I were you I would send a notorized copy of yOur passport along with your birth certificate. I wouldnt send them my passport (if I were the UK citizen). Just because I'd want the option to travel to and from the UK to the US if the visa decision took a while and I had to start work, etc.

Just my opinion. :-)
May 17 2013 - Spouse visa sent to NYC
May 22 2013 - Package accepted at NYC
May 30 2013 - Received email from Sheffield that package was received and being processed
June 6 2013 - Received "A decision has been made..." email with UPS tracking details
June 10 2013 - Visa Issued and received via UPS!
Aug 28 2013 - Returning to the UK! Yay!

I believe that if you send your original, long form, birth certificate, a copy of your passport will suffice.

Yes, you should include an itinerary.

You do not need to include your husband's birth certificate.

Thanks Geeta :)

And I don't need my birth cert just a certified copy of my passport page correct?

If you are the UK citizen then you have 3 options for your passport:

1) Send the actual passport (probably not recommended in case you need it)

2) Send a certified copy of the passport photo page

3) Send a regular photocopy plus your long form (A4) birth certificate

You only need to send the birth certificate for option 3 (as it is used in place of the certified copy - to verify the information), so if you have a certified copy of the passport, no birth certificate is needed at all.

Also, do I need to put our house rental agreement in for where we live now as proof of relationship or finances? or will they not care about that?

Thanks as always ksand24 :)

I keep thinking of extra things to put in but don't want to include docs that aren't really going to make a difference.
