Midwifery Courses
« on: December 09, 2012, 07:53:00 PM »
Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any unis offering midwifery degrees that are open to having international students attend? I was wanting to apply to King's, but they explicitly said only those eligible for the bursary (I'm not and won't be for a few years, assuming I get my spousal visa soon) can apply.

Is it just a matter of calling all of them and asking?

You can check each website before call.

UEA doesn't accept international students either.  :-[
August 2008 - Tier 4 - Student Visa
February 2010 - Tier 1 - PSW
January 2012 - FLR(M)
June 2014 - ILR (finally!)

:( It is quite disheartening, isn't it? I am thinking about making a list of every uni in the UK that offers midwifery and calling all of them to ask. I only happened across the page on King's saying they don't accept those not eligible for the bursary by chance. They don't just come out with it, it seems.

HG - Ah, thank you for that. :)

Unfortunately I'm not a qualified nurse so couldn't apply for it. (But good to know for anyone who may be in the same position and reading this thread but already an RN!)

I've looked into nursing/midwifery courses before and every university that I've come across only accepts NHS funded students for these courses. I would guess this is because they plan placement availability around the number of places commissioned by strategic health authorities...it might not be workable to slot in a few extra overseas students if they've not got mentors for them!
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12
