I'm still struggling with what to bring along to J's parents
His Dad will eat anything, but his Mum is really picky and really only likes traditional 'British Food'.
I'm thinking of making mini pies (maybe mushroom and pork/cranberry) and mini quiches and then making a boozy trifle for pudding, along with homemade mince pies.

For Christmas Eve, I am pretty sure I am going to make Balmoral Chicken (chicken stuffed with haggis and a whisky cream sauce) with Neeps and Tatties and either pumpkin parfaits or chocolate fondants - depending on my mood.

I've never gotten food on my underpants!

It all sounds fab and you're a great cook so I'm sure it will be yummy, but are you really limited to what his mum likes? Esp if the three of you will eat it? I'd try and take at least one thing she will eat but otherwise I'd make what the majority will enjoy. It's Christmas, not her birthday.  ;D

Yeap.............. His Mum is hard work!   I probably will say screw it and make what I really want (which is a homemade smoked trout pate with toasts! and his dad will love it!)   I will just have to pschye myself up to spend most the day with sighs and rolled eyes from her.   ::)

That sounds DELISH! And also traditionally British, so should suit her Ladyship.  ;)

Lol. She hates fish.
Screw it. I'm doing it. Because I want it. And probably no matter what I do, something will be wrong with it anyways.  So hey ho!   Yummy yummy...    ;D

Still making a trifle though ,because I want a boozy trifle.

Err- well it went OK.
I got a look of horror at the mince pies (she apprently hates them as well!).

His dad loved the fish pate (and wouldn't let me take the leftovers home  ;))

I know she didn't eat anything I brought though. Oh well!!!
