How much willa UK bank charge me to pay US bills?
« on: January 15, 2013, 05:09:09 PM »
Firstly, is it possible to pay my Sallie Mae monthly interest through my UK bank (HSBC)? How would I go about setting that up?

Has anyone does this? I wouldn't mind paying PayPal to PayPal then US bank but I keep getting charged monthly by my bank (chase) and I'm sick of paying.

I also have a credit card that Im paying off in the states with American HSBC.

Anyone know what I should do?

I have Sallie Mae and was not able to pay via UK bank.  I had to do as you are, DD from UK bank to UK Paypal, transfer to US Paypal and then deposit into US bank.

What is Chase charging you for exactly?

They're charging me a monthly fee for not paying in the minimum that they require each month.

I wonder, are you able to get yourself an online US bank like Ally or ING (recently bought by Capital One, so not sure what that means) and get rid of Chase for good? Then you can set up the whole Paypal <-> Paypal thing to a bank that won't charge you PLUS then you can get interest on your balance in your checking account, something most land banks don't offer.
