Focus- Expat Site
« on: October 13, 2005, 04:51:25 PM »
I just stumbled across a new Expat site that a lot of you might find helpful - only downside is a small fee

http://www.focus-info.org/

"FOCUS is the information resource for expatriates, international assignees and their families living and working in London and the rest of the UK"

Now why would we want to pay a fee, when we have everything we need, (and more ;D) plus great people who've been here for long, and short times, the one's who've been here long, have all the experience and lessons learned to pass on......for free!!!!

Because it's more of a networking site, they have a resource centre, helpline and members get added benefits like discounts/career guidance etc. This site might be more useful for job openings and guidance whereas here, you will get opinions mostly.

On a site like this you have to wait for people to respond (and hope people do) this seems more accessible for instant help and resources and people don't always find this site when they need it.

I doubt they have the snarkiness sometimes seen on here also ;)

I do too ;)

Thanks Jules, I hope some people will find it useful. I found it at this woman's blog, she is an American Expat with a lot of useful info to share. I think I want this chicks life, not to mention her figure :)

I got excited over her expat parent site but then noticed the message board was empty...boo :-\\\\
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Yeah, we're all adults here. Nice and friendly.  No harm, no foul.  And I'm the Queen of Roumania. ;D
