Returning to USA with UK spouse?
« on: February 16, 2013, 06:14:06 PM »
(Question for a friend!)

They have $27,000 in savings, she is USA and he is UK, they have been in the UK for 4 years, they are married... no kids.

Can they get an approval for the visa to go to the USA together to live there, with that amount of savings?

They do not have job offers, but they DO have a place to stay when they get there.

Anyone know? Is there a suggested or set savings amount?

Many thanks!!!!!
L.

Married 04/13/11, in NYC.
Applied for Spouse Visa the following week, with express service, and I was approved 4 days later!
Arrived in the UK 05/20/11.
I took the stupid LIUK Test Oct. 2012.
We were granted ILR In Person in Croydon on 04/23/13.
Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.

The US allows assets to be used in order to meet the financial requirements. The total needed is three times 125% of the poverty guideline for the year for their household size ($18,913).

So no, they won't make it on savings alone. They'll need a co-sponsor in the US.
