Hi Everyone-

I just thought I'd give a little trip report of our embassy appointment in Edinburgh today since I couldn't find much info on what to expect. We needed to renew DD passport.

Let me start off saying that we live in England so I was under the impression we had to go to the London office but after I emailed the Edinburgh office (twice) they were more than happy to see us there.  This was much easier for us and I'm glad I found out about it.

As far as appointment times went they are only open on Tues and Wed but seemed to take appointments all day and even after checking a few times there seemed to be plenty of appointments available on short notice which i think could be useful if you can't plan too far ahead. I even checked yesterday and there were appts still open for today and tomorrow.

We booked a 1230 appt but arrived at 1130 and we let in with no questions and waited to be called to the window.  It is a very small office- 3 or 4 windows and maybe 6 or 8 chairs in the waiting area.  There is a security check and they will hold your phone/ small electronics for you.

By the time I put my bag down and got my coat off we were called to the window to check our documents and they also took payment.  We were then told to wait while they got processed.  The waiting room is just a couple chairs and they did have 2 very small boxes of toys/ books.  They do state on their website that there are no facilities and they were fine with bringing in food/ drink.

After a short wait we were called back to the window where I gave the oath for DD, double checked photos/ doc etc and we were told we should get everything back in 2 weeks or so.  In total we were in and out in an hour.

The office is about a 10-15 min walk from the train station so was very convenient for us.  DD is 4 1/2 and I am 8 months pregnant and didn't have any trouble walking there and back.

We are expecting another baby soon and the agent welcomed us to use their office again even though we are in England and said that their services are for everyone in the UK not just Scotland and it is a common misconception.

Hope this is helpful...

Thanks for the report.  We'll be using Edinburgh eventually too.  Glad it worked out alright!
