Any tips on the best rates for rental cars at Manchester Airport?

I use www.carrentals.com which is a comparison site, and usually get good rates. My credit card includes insurance which covers the excess applied by the rental company, so there are no charges on top of the quoted price.

Is that a US credit card and if so does it cover rentals in the UK?

Its a US based c/card, and the insurance coverage is worldwide.

There are different benefits with each credit card, so it would be best if you checked with your card issuer. We can access a list of benefits online instead of having to find the paper that came with the card.

You can also buy top up insurance coverage where, for around £50 per year, the excess (which can be £600 on each rental) is covered should you have an accident.

See http://www.confused.com/car-hire-excess-insurance for a quote.
