Hubby takes new LIUK test today...options for Plan B???
« on: March 25, 2013, 10:16:47 AM »
Hi all,

Due to a delay with the first booked test and ID mix up on the next (aarrrggghhh!!) my husband is taking the LIUK test today - new 3rd edition!

We need him to pass as we have our PEO appointment on Wednesday for SET (M) following 2 years of spouse visa probation. His visa expires on 4th April.

What I need to know is if he was to fail this test I believe my options to be, do correct me if wrong:

1. Keep the PEO appointment on Wednesday and apply for FLR (M) instead so he has more time to pass the test and we have time to book another PEO for SET (M) - pricey option I know.

2. Re-schedule a test for next Monday and try to get a PEO for SET (M) for the 3rd April (I know only will be marginally possible through a solicitor?).

3. I know there is the postal option if he was to pass first or second time and we get the application in before expiry of visa but there is no way he can be without his passport for up to six months due to business travel :(

I really hope he passes this afternoon, the new handbook is so full of dates and history etc - it's not looking easy!

Do you mean this Wednesday as in the day after tomorrow?  I believe that they recommend that you don't book a PEO appointment sooner than a week after your test.  I'd try to change the appointment.

It looks like it's just 2 days, but still something to consider if your husband has to retake the test and/or you reschedule your PEO appointment.

Please note: If you want to apply for settlement in person at a public enquiry office (PEO), you must pass the test at least 2 working days before you attend your appointment, to allow time for the test result to be sent to us electronically. If the test result is not on our system when you attend your appointment, we will be unable to decide your application on the same day.

He passed!! Said it wasn't as bad as he'd thought it would be.  He just got 2 wrong.

I was aware of the 2 day rule and hopefully we'll be ok, he was given a print out that he'd passed.  The only other available appointment was 10th April so after his visa expired so had to take the chance :)

GCJ, congratulations to your husband! Does he have any feedback on the questions? Was there a lot about history, for example? I am taking it on Wednesday and as you know there are no official test questions available at the moment.

Edited to add: Never mind--just saw a link to the official practice test in another thread!

Good luck with your test  :)

He said there were only 3 on history.

4 people had taken it in the morning and just one other with my husband and all passed.

Too bad--I'm good on history!

Thanks for the good luck wishes. I have a feeling my test will be sparsely attended too. Not many people will want to take this in the first week.

Congrats!   ;D

Glad it worked out.  :)  Just hold on to that sheet for ILR and for Citizenship, too!  :)
