Monkey Bread
« on: May 05, 2013, 08:31:57 PM »
Hey ya'll so I want to try my hand at monkey bread and I have no clue what to use. I know Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits are hard to find.

I also know Sainsbury sells some rolls but I want to double check which I should purchase.

Am I just purchasing the puff pastry? would that be the same thing? Or the shortcrust pastry?

Thank you for your help

Why don't you try making the biscuits from scratch?  It's not hard.

Puff and shortcrust are pie crusts, not biscuits.

Just one example of many, many recipes available online:

I really didn't want to make it from scratch but if i have no other choice i will.

I never made biscuits nor monkey bread before at all... and that just too much experimenting  in one dish for me lol

Bread dough works great in monkey bread as well - you'll probably need to make that as well though-  but you could maybe try those "partially baked" rolls and cut them up - but not cook for as long for monkey bread

Someone posted a few months ago that they use Jusrol Crusty White Rolls.

Here's the thread:
