Taught a Lesson at The Globe
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:05:34 PM »
I am often embarrassed by our people's total disregard of or disinterest in "culture".   I admit I use this term loosely because it means different things to different people.

However, tonight when a bunch of what I would have assumed were unruly teenage girls in The Globe forced there by a school trip, went genuinely nuts with applause at the end of Henry VI Part 1, I was very pleased.

I love when I get proved wrong about my first impressions.

Anyone had similar things happen to them?

When I used to be on a motorcycle forum you listed your bikes here.  On the travel forum the countries you'd been to.  Photography, your cameras / lenses.  Somehow here it's bureaucratic BS survived!  Tier 1, fiance/spouse visa, ILR, AHHH!!!!!!  I feel like putting the fees...

I started to post something like this a while back.

Getting on the bus late one day I was faced with probably 40 animated teenagers. After just a few moments of hearing their conversations, I realised that they had been to a technology symposium and were revved up over all the stuff they had heard. It was a group future programmers.

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

This isn't exclusive to Americans obviously, but I just notice them more often because of the accents and my husband rolling his eyes and saying "your people again".  ;)
