"House number"?
« on: September 04, 2004, 03:55:45 PM »
I keep getting requests, both in person and online, for my "house number," and i still don't know exactly what this means. i live in an apt building. I have an apt #, and apartment comlex name, a street address. But what are they looking for?

I live in flats too.  When someone asks for your house number, give them your flat number.  They are most likely using an automated system that looks first for your post code, then your house number.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

On a subsequent web form, when I put in the name of the apt complex under "house name," it automatically put the street adress # under "house #." i.e. if the building is 45 shrewsbury lane, it would put 45 as the house #. But that seems very odd, since it's using just that # and the postcode.

It's because post codes are so specific.  A post code will only be your street or even part of you street-so that's all they need usually.
