Paranoid that my visa will get rejected
« on: June 23, 2013, 11:43:00 PM »
In 2011 I applied for a Tier 4 student visa and received it, no problem. I've now applied for a Tier 5 work visa, and since I was pretty familiar with the process, I hurried through it, I think. I've made a few minor mistakes - ones that I only realized after sending off my paperwork to New York. So now I'm just incredibly paranoid something is going to go wrong.

-Forgot to photocopy info page of passport (noticed from reading this forum that this hasn't been a problem for other people)
-Forgot to write name on back of pictures (this has happened to a few other people as well, and it has not been an issue)
-Photos themselves are the required 45mm x 35mm, but there's a little extra white space above my head that I don't see in some of the sample pictures.
-And the one I'm really worried about now: on one of the forms I accidentally wrote down that I would be in the UK for 7 weeks when my certificate of sponsorship says 8 weeks.

I keep trying to tell myself that these minor details won't matter - they have absolutely everything they need, so it's not a case of missing documents or anything. And my sponsor is A-rated.

Should I worry? Or relax and stop overreacting? It's been a summer of "what can go wrong will go wrong."

Everyone worries that their visa will be rejected, so chance are you are worrying yourself for nothing.

Did you follow the photo guidelines that the UKBA has in the guidance notes?  They very clearly state what is and is not acceptable.

Often times if there is something that is needed to process the application (new photos, etc.), you will be contacted and asked to send the right item.  This happens quite often (although no guarantees).

At this point the application is sent.  Sit tight and think positive thoughts.  And try to distract yourself by keeping busy.  :o)

Hey Hannah! I know we're both applying PBS (though I'm tier 4) at the same time. I got a confirmation email from them yesterday that they got the package and that most priority nonsettlement are decided in 48 hours. Have you heard back yet?
Sept '11: premium service same-day tier 4 visa granted in NYC
July '13: tier 4 visa - applied from boston
October '14: FLRM - applied priority in sheffield office
March '17: FLRM 2 - applied priority in sheffield office
Sept 2019: IRL, priority at Croydon, granted same day
October 2019: submitted naturalisation application
January 2020: citizenship approved!
March 2020: last citizenship ceremony before covid :-O

Yes! I've just been so busy that I haven't had time to update. I was approved on the 25th and received my visa on the morning of the 26th :) Off to London on Friday!
