I did the application last year online for both of us.

Regarding travel insurance, we both have annual cover included with our bank account.

I was looking at the online app more again last night for DH..... does that one application give both people a card?  Or do you need to do one application for each person (with each person as the main applicant)?

Maybe just try it with your husband as the main applicant & see if it gets you a card too? If you're not planning to go anywhere soon, you'll still have time to apply by post for your card if it doesn't work out.  :)

That's what I was thinking of doing, Mrs Robinson.  :)  It like the online app only specifies the main applicant is a UKC... and just that everyone on the application is a UK resident.  :)  I carefully read that bit out to DH and if he's the main applicant and I'm the spouse, we fit the requirements for the online app.  :)  I'll let you know what happens.  :)

Just for information, I applied online for the EHIC with DH as the main applicant and me as a spouse.

Before I decided to just apply online, I sent an email to the enquiry address.  The automated response suggested asking basic questions via their Facebook page, so I did that as well.  :P

I got a response from their Facebook page within an hour and they told me to have DH apply online but I had to apply separately by post.  :P  Booooo.....  :P  I had already done the online app at the point, so I just figured I'd apply by post if my card didn't come.  :P

The enquiry email responses (I emailed Friday and they responded on Monday) was to apply as I had with DH as the main applicant and me as the spouse.  :)  Which is exactly what I had done.  :)

Maybe the postal application is intended for people here on work or student visas?  Well, any non-UKC who wouldn't be linked to a UKC family member.  :)

Hopefully our cards will come in the next few weeks!  :)

Update: our EHICs arrived.  :)  I filled out the application online on Saturday and they came today (Friday!).  :)  They're dated the day I did the online app and they're good for 5 years.  :)

I used DH (UKC) as the main applicant and me (USC) as the spouse and it was all fine.  :)  Much easier than applying by post.  :)
