Jersey Ferries question / problem

I can't seem to figure out if you can do a walk on day return trip from St Helier, Jersey to St Malo, France and if you need to pre-purchase or can pay at walk on?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Not sure about that route specifically, but for foot passengers on most of the short(ish) routes here, you don't pre-purchase.  It's only if you're taking a vehicle that you need to book in advance.

Your best bet is to phone the ferry operator directly and ask.

You should be able to do the one day trip thing as it's only around 14  miles away, and you can do day trips from the UK mainland.
