North Carolina to Scotland
« on: September 12, 2013, 04:13:32 PM »
Hello!  I am in the visa process right now, but I’m looking to move to Scotland and soon as possible to join my wife.  We were married last month.  We met on my first vacation to the UK back in 2009.  I will be dragging along a couple of pugs who are glad they’re spending their last summer in NC.  As of right now, I’m just in the wait and see game.

I mistakenly sent my spouse visa off to the NY embassy late August and found this site looking for answers on where my application might be.  I’m hoping, based on what I read, they are processing my application in Sheffield and my error only cost me a few extra weeks.

I’m looking forward to joining my wife and starting our lives together in the UK.

Vernon.

Welcome to the forum,
I am from Mass born n bred and lived there till I came here to Scotland in 1999. Worked my way up the immigration ladder and have had dual citizenship for many years now. :)
I'm in the Fife area of Scotland. What area of Scotland are you planning to move to?

Kay

Thank you Kay!

We'll be located in Ayr.  I'm going to try and squeeze into her flat until I can find employment and then we'll look for a house.  I don't think I've been through Fife yet, but I wouldn't have known if i did.  :)

I've have been to Edinburgh and we took a nice long drive up to Loch Ness and Iverness for a few days.  I'm hoping that we'll take some nice weekend trips exploring, Fife looks very nice.

I will definitely pursue dual citizenship when the time comes.

That's wonderful! Congratulations on being in the process! Welcome!! I'm from Georgia, but been here since August. The weather here has been "one for the books" according to my fiance and some friends of ours. Hope all goes well with moving the dogs...i know ALL about that when I brought my German Shepherd over **brain crash**

Hey neaty521,
I’m in Raleigh as well!  I’ve lived here for the past year and a half, before that I was in Durham and two years before that I was in Wilson, NC.   Thanks!  I’m hoping that I will be hearing something soon.  I’m definitely ready to be with my wife!

ilyse22tech,
I’m ready for the cooler weather, but not sure about all the rain.  I think once I get my visa the next enormous about of stress will be getting the dogs to my wife.  As it stands now, I will have to drive them up to Newark, NJ to catch the plane over to Scotland –there are no pet flights to Newark and I can’t see putting them on another flight with an overnight layover in a kennel.
