Which address should I use?
« on: September 11, 2013, 02:32:34 PM »
I am moving back into my old bedroom  :P at my mother's house at the end of the month in anticipation of the move to the UK. So now in the midst of packing & selling and donating my stuff, I am also changing addresses.
Question is, what address should I use? I plan on using my mothers address for almost everything...  for credit cards/store cards/cell phone, except for one credit card that I will change to the UK address.
I also have accounts with two different banks, will it cause a problem down the line if I keep a US address on those accounts even though I am living in the UK? Everything is set up to be paid online/email statements etc.... The main thing I am wondering is about the banks, I think it is not really a problem with the credit cards/other bills, they probably don't care where I live as long as they get paid each month! I am not sure about the banks.... ???

I'm British, living in the UK, but I have a US bank account.

Originally I changed my bank address to my UK address when I moved back home, but because it's a different format to US addresses, I wasn't receiving any statements or anything in the post - half of my UK address was missed off the envelope window, so I have a year's worth of bank statements floating around USPS somewhere, undelivered!

So, I changed my bank account to my aunt's address in the US, because it was easier, and now she forwards me replacement debit cards and things. There was no problem with doing this at all.

Thanks ksand, I was not sure if it would make a problem for me come tax time or something! Not that there is a huge amount of money in either bank, but still....   :P

Up until last month I still had credit cards and a bank account going to my mum's address, and I've been here nearly ten years. It's never been a problem.
