Pet (Dog) Friendly Apartment Hunting
« on: March 22, 2014, 08:03:07 PM »
Hi there -

I am moving to London next month and plan to bring my 40 lb Lab-Mix.  I am interested in checking out areas such as Balham, Clapham, Battersea, Chiswick, Shoreditch and others.  I do prefer SW London.

Does anyone have advice on pet friendly landlords or agents?  Is it really that difficult to find a small 1br that will accept pets in Zones 2 or 3?  I am willing to pay more of security if necessary.

A pet will limit your options but you should still have options.  Letting a flat in the UK is quite different than the US.  Each flat will be listed with a particular agent so you may have to meet with three separate agencies to see three flats.  Your dog will definitely increase your security deposit.  I don't know if it's different to a cat, but my cat made my deposit equal to two months rent versus one and a half.
