Self-employed UK/US tax: country of payment query
« on: January 03, 2015, 07:19:56 PM »
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, but I haven't found info regarding my specific situation.

Background: I'm US citizen living in the US. I am self-employed, and many of my clients are in the UK. My invoices are paid in dollars directly into my US bank account. I pay tax to the US government on that money.

But I also have a UK bank account, and I'm wondering what the implications would be if I were to be paid in pounds into that account instead. (I would then use that money while visiting the UK.) Would be there be any advantages? Could I even do that legally, as I don't have a UK visa? Am researching now, but thought someone here might have experience with this.

Many thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction!
