Working from home
« on: November 05, 2013, 11:55:47 AM »
The beauty of today's society is that many of us are lucky enough to work from the comfort of our own home/ anywhere in the world (with internet access)!

I've been able to live 6 months in London & 6 months in Boston for the last 2 years- doing Forex trading with GoMarkets (although the husband does it more) and running my UK eBay shop! My stock is in the UK so that business isn't available back home.

I was just wondering, who else has managed to live in both USA and UK by making their money online? 5 years ago I would never have dreamed that we were able to live this flexibly  :) I just don't know where to settle at the moment!

Well I don't live in both places, but as I am self-employed, I am doing the same work online in the UK as I did in the States, except of course when I was on a fiancee visa and not allowed to work. If I moved back to the USA I would be running the same business.

Well, she was an American girl, raised on promises.
She couldn't help thinking that there was a little more to life, somewhere else.
After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.

Yes, it's great with the options

But....  The legalities and visa complexities of working from anywhere are getting harder and harder to understand and stay legal.

It's not legal to do work in the UK if you're working remotely and your base is another country, unless you're here on a legal visa (work permit, spousal visa, etc) or a dual citizen!  It's the same for a lot of other countries in the world as well.

It throws a lot of UKYs for a loop........
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
Work permit (2007) to British Citizen (2014)
You're stuck with me!
