NY Artist almost ready to appy for Fiance Visa!
« on: August 20, 2014, 02:13:42 PM »
Hi everyone, I’m an artist, writer of children’s stories and poems and love studying nature. I have two sons, 24 + 22 years old that live on their own. I am engaged to a British citizen that I met because of my blog! Haha..yes, I did really! I’ve been over to stay with him as much as I could since 2008 when we met, until the border patrol said I can’t come any more until I have a Fiancé Visa. Well we’ve been working on that and I’ve been preparing to move for the past 2 ½ years….I have a big house/farm to sell and have been doing most of the clearing and fixing by myself.

I haven’t seen him (except for Skype) for two years and seven months….far too long! What held us up is the misinformation that he needed to have a certain income. Since we hired an adviser, we now know it can rely on my savings and that’s what we are going on. Almost ready to apply now, he’s cleaning like the Dickens to prepare for an inspection and/or landlady approval. (She’s a real stickler and we’re worried about that!) My house is empty now, except for the far too many boxes and bins I wish to ship!

It’s been extremely stressful to say the least, and lonely. It’s been so long since we started all this that it just seems like a dream that I’ll ever really be living in England with him. I had to put aside my art etc. and totally focus on my house and the Visa process.

I’m happy to find your forum and hope to contribute as I can and get advice too!
PS. Here’s my website: http://www.marymcandrew.com  If you go to the BLOG page and click on the category “England- My Adventures” you’ll see all the posts I did with sketches as we went walking or when I spent time in the Lake District.

Welcome!

I met my husband on an art website in 2012, it's amazing how many of us have met our matches on the internet!

Best of luck to you two.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Thanks so much for the welcome HG and Lyonaria! As I have time I will try to keep up with posts here and read to learn more. Maybe someday I'll be able to offer advice too, for now just working on my house (for selling) and packing. Today I'm painting closet shelves and cleaning decks.

Your watercolors are lovely! I especially like Spring in Clarence Center, it could cure depression.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Thanks for looking at my paintings. I did that one years ago but I still remember doing it while sitting in the car waiting for my son at his math tutors house!

I can't wait to get back to England so I can add more paintings to my England Gallery Page...I love the landscapes there.
