Any Current Issues Related to Bankruptcy?

I have  some credit card debt that has been lingering for a while. Things are now going to collections as I have been unemployed. I am considering filing bankruptcy. I've looked through prior posts about bankruptcy which mostly seemed to say it would not affect getting a visa. Is that still current for 2014? I would not want to do it if it affected getting a fiancee or spousal visa. Can someone please update me on this?
