Moving back to the US without a job - what about healthcare?

Hi all

In the future I will be moving back to the states, just not sure when... Couple more years probably. We would be moving to California

One question I had is how do people manage health care without a job?

I'm thinking it would take 2-3 months to re settle back in, find an apt, etc. How do you manage health care when transitioning home?

Luckily we don't have any major medical issues knock on wood, just trying to plan when we are in the eventual situation.

You usually purchase individual insurance.

Hi there!

I've been a California resident since I was 1 (I'm 27 now) and I can say if you go through ObamaCare currently- the wait times are a nightmare. However, this most likely won't be an issue for you, since you're talking about a couple of years down the road. I would recommend MetLife, they're great! They have low deductibles and great providers!

A nightmare, how?  I just signed up with Covered California for me and dh with no issues.  Our coverage won't start until April 1 but that's typical of any insurance plan.
