Hi all,

I've been a reasonably long term stalker of these boards (particularly the visa forum!) and figured it was about time I said hello, as pretty soon I'm probably going to be posting for all sorts of helpful advice.

I'm the UK citizen in this story and met my fiancé whilst we were both working for an international cruise company - jump ahead 3 and half years to present day and after having travelled all over the world together working and taking in all the culture our beautiful world has to offer (and getting engaged!) we decided it was time to return to our land legs.

I've just started a new job in the UK and am working towards getting the 6 months employment under my belt so we can meet the financial side of the visa, but in the meantime am planning our UK wedding! My fiancé will be coming over on the visitor for purpose of marriage visa (if we are approved - application going in soon!) as we have planned a second wedding in the US to be able to celebrate with both of our families (thus couldn't do the fiancé visa route) Then as long as everything goes rosy up until then, we should be applying for spouse visa in July or August this year (hopefully!)

I've directed him towards this forum, but he has yet to take a look!

I wanted to thankyou all already as even though I've been hiding in the shadows, you have all already helped me more than you can know!

Look forward to sharing my success story with you in the future - fingers crossed!

Welcome!  My wife and I met the same way.  We were both with Royal Caribbean on the Vision of the Seas; I was a broadcast tech and she was a cruise staff.  What ship were you on, and what did you do?

We were with Royal Caribbean too!

We met on the Explorer of the Seas, but then continued to do contracts on Jewel and Radiance together. I also worked on Independence for a contract while we were apart, and my fiancé was on the 'takeout crew' for all 3 freedom class and the two current Oasis class (he was with the company for a while before me!)

We both worked in Entertainment Production through a few roles (both promoted to different things) from stage staff, to lighting technician to Stage and Production Manager

Small world!  We met on the Vision, but I also worked on Monarch and Majesty, and my wife worked on the Navigator (we were a few years before you; the Jewel was the newest ship when we left).

Welcome to UKY, and good luck with the visa/marriage!

Thank you so much, I appreciate the good wishes! It's going to be tough for the next few months whilst I'm working here on my own, but it's the route that works best for us and if everything works out (fingers crossed) it will be worth it in the end.

Looking forward to next Christmas being together with a visa in hand!

Just wanted to check back in to say we mailed our application for the Visitor for Purpose of Marriage visa today - keeping fingers crossed, as if this goes badly, I don't know what we will do. Cross that bridge if we come to it though.

Only 5 more months payslips needed before we can apply for Spouse Visa after the wedding......slowly moving in the right direction!

We got the Marriage Visit Visa!!!    :D :D

It took longer than expected over the Presidents Day holiday but still only a few days so nothing to complain about - it was just the scary thought we would have to cancel all the wedding plans if they refused!

Waiting for his passport to get back to him now and his flight is already booked to come join me in May before we get married at the end of June!

It's just one more step to us being closer to being together and putting in that dreaded Spouse visa application in August!

P.S I hope no-one minds me using this thread to update our story, I didn't want to create a brand new thread, and even if no one is reading this, it's nice to feel like I can tell the world!
