Getting a background check for teaching? Durham
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:56:04 AM »
I understand that I will need to undergo a criminal background check from the US/FBI in order to be employed as a teacher.  It seems that I need to fingerprinted -- the old fashioned ink way at that -- but I can not find where to get fingerprinted in Durham.  Also, it seems that on the London Area sites they use LiveScan.  Where can I get the card, since it needs to be card stock, and be fingerprinted in my area?  The embassy site is really no help.

Thanks,

Contact the Criminal Records Bureau to see if they can help you liase with the locval police station in Durham?

Or contact Durham Police direct?

Otherwise, I had to do mine at New Scotland Yard in London for professional registration many moons ago.

Hope you get it sorted without too many issues. Let us know how it goes. Good luck. :)

Thanks for the links.

I did contact Durham Constabulary.  They informed me of how to the CRB for the UK, but not really about having FBI clearance.  I sincerely hope I do not have to travel to London for this.

Hopefully not! I always made sure to schedule to finger printing at my local county lock up when I was home for summer because it is quite difficult to get them done. People become so confused because everything if you are local is just the scan.
