I'm worried I've gotten myself in an interesting situation...any advice is greatly appreciated.
I'm currently in the UK on a Fiance visa and we're getting married on the 6th of June, 2014. I've made a few attempts to make an appointment to apply in person for a same day decision to get switched to a spouse visa, but every time I search for dates after my wedding date I get the response that no times are available. I'm even providing a 2-3 week window, all days, any time of the day. Does anyone have any secrets on how to get an appointment? I've tried multiple locations, every day available after June 6th, etc. but it seems as nothing is available and they only release dates up to 3 months in advance.
The catch is, we're having an event on June 27th back in America for some family and friends that can't make it to the wedding here. So we'll be needing to leave the country shortly after our wedding, likely around the 23rd of June, but if I can't make an appointment then I don't see how I'll get my passport and paperwork back in time to leave the country.
As far as I see it my other options are:
1) Leave after my wedding anyway and attempt to return shortly after the June 27th America event (my current Fiance visa is valid through July 14, 2014). However, I understand that when I come back into the country my status will have changed to "spouse" not "fiance" and I run the risk of being sent back to America to sort out my visa. Would they really do that even considering I took the correct path to get the fiance visa? What if I had my proof of payment for the spouse visa and a printed out version of my application in hand as well?
2) Leave for the states shortly after my wedding, with my passport, without my wife and send in my mailed application (with passport) once I'm there and wait for it to come back before making my return to the UK. This is obviously not ideal.
3) Mail in my application from the UK and pray to every last divine entity in the universe that my passport and Visa come back before I need to leave to the US for our event there. If it doesn't come back, have my family and friends celebrate our wedding without the Groom...and I have my lucky best man fill in for me. Again, this is obviously not ideal.
With the same day decision, how long does it take to get the visa in my passport and back to me?
I feel like I'm up a creek without a paddle...suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice!
Cheers,
Tyler
