UK General Visitors Visa Date Problems
« on: April 11, 2014, 11:01:53 PM »
Hi all.

I have recently finished my visitors visa application, and I said I would be traveling on the 16th June. Though, I recently found out that I would have more time off work, and I was wondering, do I have to travel on the day it says on my application? or can I travel earlier?

Thanks

They will usually make your visa valid from the date you put on the application, so if they make it valid from 16th June, then no, you can't travel before this date (but you can travel any time after that date). If they happen to make the visa valid from the date they issue it, and it's before 16th June, then you can enter on that date instead.

Have you actually sent off the visa application to NYC yet? If not, you can manually cross out the 16th June date on your printed application form and change it to a different date. No one will see the application until they receive the physical copy that you mail to them.

Have you sent in your application yet? If you haven't, then just cross off what you put down and handwrite the new date. If you have, you will need to wait to see from what date they made the visa valid. If it starts on June 16, you can't enter before that date.

Hmmm, No, the application has not been sent off. So, crossing off the 16th and hand writing a new date will still be valid?

Yes, it's fine. Just write the earliest date that you can travel.
