London bound!
« on: February 24, 2014, 06:17:54 PM »
Hallo - I'm a single woman headed to London for a job offer!  I've got some colleagues in London that I've been pestering for information and advice - and one recommended this site - and I'm glad he did!

I will be spending lots of time on the message boards to see what information is out there regarding moving companies, what to bring, what to leave behind… there is a lot to think about!

I'm aiming for a late May/early June move from Philadelphia area to London - visa gods willing - so for the next 3 months I'll be packing, sifting, repacking, stressing, tamping down the excitement, and doing my best to get prepared for the big adventure.

Thanks for the site - and the information - and I am looking forward to joining the group!

-Patti

Welcome, Patti!

If you've already got a job lined up (and a work permit), you are ahead of a lot of people when we first arrived here. Good luck and I hope you enjoy London.

Welcome! I used to live in Philly way back when while I was at university.
It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.

How did the move go? How did you get a job offer without being there to interview? That would be ideal for me as I am doing it alone.

Hi Pattiaa,

I would like to find employment in the UK. Any advice? I have a bachelors degree in Economics and a Global Master in Business Administration. However, I would be willing to work just about anywhere to get my foot in the door.
