Best journey travel planning site

Ala the 'journey planner' on the London Travel Site, can anyone recommend a good site to compare journeys/costs to and from places around the UK?

The UK does NOT have an integrated travel system ... so there's no easy single central resource (that I know of) to point you to.   Have a look at these and see what you think:

German railways (number 1) is very good for train times and Xephos (no. 2) is really good for journies that involve both bus and train, or where there are two options.  It's a subscription service (but does offer a try before you buy) and we use it extensively.   Alas - note of these (that I know of) gives you any form of comprehensive fare comparison which was the second part of the question.
