From Michigan to Wales
« on: September 04, 2014, 01:37:51 AM »
Hi there. I'm new to the UK and these forums. I've been in Bristol for the last week and will be here until next week when I move into my new flat in Wales. So far I'm not a huge fan of Bristol, but I kind of attribute that to culture shock. The food here is so different. Mustard mayo? Pork pies? I miss America!!! I know it'll take some time for me to get used to, but it's still so new for me. I've moved here for my partner, so at least I'm not alone. However I do miss my family back home.

Nice to meet you, and thanks for reading!

*grins*

I completely understand! There are quite a few foods that are popular here in the UK that I just don't get, like mushy peas.

You'll find some great new foods though! I love Nando's and all things piri-piri now!

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Hi and welcome to the boards ... I'm in Wales (Cardiff) but from Las Vegas ... Major culture shock, but hopefully you will get used to things in no time at all ... Quite a few "American" things you can find if you look ... In fact, I saw we are getting a Five Guys (hamburger chain) here by the end of the year ...

Hi! Where in Wales will you be living? I've been in Wales for about 2 years and I'm from Illinois!
