Kitchen-Aid mixer

I'm bringing my Kitchenaid mixer also and wondered what size transformer you all are talking about needing? I bought a 500 watt step down transformer, is this big enough?

Anyone know if it'll be big enough to use for my Sewing machine or Food Processor too? (not at the same time obviously!)

It might be easier to just replace when you get to the UK.  I know they do sell them as I have seen the KitchenAid ones in the store Potters near where I am moving.

Sewing machine motors are typically very low wattage (mine was 90) and run fine on a transformer.

For anything else, look @ the info that will be somewhere on the machine. Add at least 10% for potential surge (so if it says 500 watts, you need a transformer that handles at least 550). If the maximum wattage on any machine was 500, personally for the miniscule price difference, I would get a good 1000 watt transformer.

Your mileage may vary, but I always have had good luck using a transformer with my US kitchen appliances.

Thanks so much for your replies. I definitely don't want to replace since I'm bringing a few electronics that I'd rather not replace, so I'll invest in a larger transformer. I'll try to look on my mixer for wattage and I've decided to wait till I get to the UK to buy any big transformer. I'm bringing too much over as it is...sigh....an artist with lots of STUFF!
